Lips are considered one of the most striking beauty symbols, especially on the female face. Over the years, signs of aging may occur such as the loss of volume of the lips, the downward turning of the corners of the lips, giving the person an unhappy, sad expression, and the formation of lines around the lips due to smoking. In some people, we may encounter problems such as the blurred contours of the lip, very thin or asymmetrical lips, and the imbalance of the lower-upper lip ratios. Hyaluronic acid fillers are frequently used to create lips with a prominent arch called Cupid’s Bow, which gives shape to a fuller, contoured, beautiful lips.
With lip filler application
- Treatment of asymmetrical appearance on the lips
- The lips appear more voluminous
- Treatment of barcode lines around the lips
- Achieving proportions close to the golden ratio
- Enhancing of lip contour
- We can provide moisture and vitality to the lips.
HOW IS LIP FILLERS APPLIED?
After numbing with cream or local anesthetic, hyaluronic acid injection is performed with needle or cannula technique.
In the needle technique, slight swelling and bruising may occur after the procedure, and recovery may take a few days.
Swelling and bruising are less likely in cannula application.
HOW LONG LIP FILLERS LAST?
Since it is a very active region, although it may change a little due to personal factors, the effect can be achieved for 6-12 months.
With repetitive injections, this period is prolonged and a natural increase in volume can be achieved by not removing the applied filler completely.
WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF UNNATURAL RESULTS AFTER LIP FILLING?
- Injecting more than necessary product into the lip contour part
- Wrong technique
- Use of unsuitable, excessively hard materials
- Applications performed in a way that is not suitable for lip anatomy may have an unnatural appearance.
HOW TO DECIDE THE REQUIRED VOLUME FOR THE LIP?
- The number of filler injectors to be used in lip augmentation differs from person to person.
- While even 0.5 ml may be sufficient for lips with sufficient volume, 2 ml filling may be required for very thin lips.
- The consistency of the filler to be used and the lifting capacity also change the amount of product to be used.
- In order to obtain a more natural appearance, the amount of filling to be applied can be divided into 2 sessions.
IS LIP FILLER INJECTION A PAINFUL PROCEDURE?
We usually perform numbing with local anesthetic cream application. We can also perform an anesthetizing procedure, called dental block, in people with a very low pain threshold. We do not prefer this because it causes asymmetry after the numbing process, and it is sometimes more difficult to provide symmetry in lip augmentation application.
WHEN IS THE FULL HEALING EFFECT OBSERVED AFTER LIP FILLING?
- Although it is possible for the person to return to his/her social life immediately without experiencing significant swelling after filling applications in the other facial areas, we can see swelling and bruising for 3-4 days after lip filling applications.
- Swelling can be seen especially in the morning of the day after the procedure and returns to normal within a week.
- Avoiding heavy exercise, sauna, Turkish bath and hot drinks for approximately 24 hours after the application will prevent further edema.
- Rarely, some people may experience minimal bruising and can often be camouflaged with concealers. Taking blood thinners, green tea and vitamin E before the procedure can increase the possibility of bruising.
- Although the effect can be observed immediately after lip augmentation, an increase in volume more than normal can be observed after the procedure, depending on the trauma of the application. It takes about 1 week for the effect to settle. We invite our patients for control after 2 weeks.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO TREAT UNDESIRED RESULTS AFTER LIP FILLING?
- Complications such as the formation of more volume than desired after hyaluronic acid filling applications, incorrect application, palpable nodules can be completely treated with the hyaluronidase enzyme.
HOW FREQUENTLY CAN LIP FILLING BE DONE?
- Lip augmentation can be done in one session, using single or multiple ml’s of filler, or it can be done in stages by applying one ml every few months. The goal is to have the desired volume and symmetrical lips. Filling can be repeated every 6-12 months to maintain the desired volume.
CAN I HAVE LIP FILLER WHEN I HAVE HERPES LABIALIS?
- We can see herpes from time to time in people who have frequent herpes after lip augmentation. In order to prevent this, we can prescribe anti-herpes drugs after the procedure. We do not perform treatment in people with active herpes, but we plan treatment after recovery.
WHAT IS THE COST OF LIP FILLERS?
It changes according to the product used and amount of the filler applied.
